Parent Portal : Frequently Asked Questions |
Questions About the System
-
Who do I contact if I'm having trouble with the Parent Portal?
You should contact Linda Whitney, Sanborn Central School Superintendent, as she is the school's contact person. She will be processing the applications and troubleshooting user problems. You can email her at Linda.Whitney@k12.sd.us or call her at 1-605-495-4183.
-
In the Parent Portal, I don't see all of my children displayed.
One of your children is not added correctly in the program. Notify Linda Whitney of the problem and she will get your child added.
-
I cannot log into the Parent Portal. It says my account is disabled.
You may have typed your password incorrectly too many times. You are only allowed 3 times to get your password right before your account is disabled. This is to prevent people from trying to get into your account by "guessing" your password. Contact Linda Whitney to have your account enabled again.
-
When attempting to access the Parent Portal, I get an encryption error message.
Your browser does not have the required security. You will need to upgrade it. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and let it guide you through updating your version of Internet Explorer.
-
How do I change my username and/or password?
After you log into the Parent Portal, you will find a link under User Settings on the left side of your screen that says "Change Account Info". Click on this link and you will be able to specify a new username or password there.
-
Can anyone else see my access log?
Yes, those that have administrative rights are able to see the access logs. However, they are not being monitored in any way. The only time the system administrator will even into an account is to unlock it if it gets disabled because of incorrect login entries or to check a password if a user forgets theirs. Parents should feel secure in knowing that their privacy is being maintained.
- How is the State of South Dakota using this information?
The Parent Portal, also referred to as DDN Campus, is a statewide web-based database of student and staff information. Under this system, all data will be stored using a unified secure system instead of each district using a stand-alone system. South Dakota will be able to use all of this information for many purposes. Visit the DDN Campus website at www.ddncampus.net to see a list of their intended uses of this information.
