Philosophy of Homework
Most classes will have a short reading assignment each day. The students are expected to read and take notes over the assignment. I usually have a daily 5-point quiz over each assignment. There may also be end of the chapter assignments or projects that will require some extra time. I do expect the students to spend time studying for tests.

Grading Policy
I use total points. Small quizzes are 5 points. Tests are always 100 points. The longer
the assignment and the more work it requires, the more points it is worth.

I do offer 3 extra credit assignments per quarter. The student may type a one-page paper on a topic that we are covering in class. Each paper is worth 10 points.

Students may retake a test if they receive a C+ or lower. They must retake the test within 1 week of test day.

The students have a copy of the state standards and are expected to know certain ones for each chapter. At the beginning of the chapter, the students highlight the standards that we are studying that chapter. At the end of the chapter, we discuss them again to see if they have questions. There are questions over the state standards on most tests.

I usually post grades Thursday afternoon. I do keep a hard copy of all grades and I put them on the computer once a week. Therefore, grades will not change daily in the Parent Portal.
