Brady is a graduate of Sanborn Central and is currently attending Mitchell Technical College for ag business. Brady was diagnosed in December with Sever Aplastic Anemia, a rare and serious condition that occurs when your body stops producing enough new blood cells. The WWSSC football co-op has and will continue to look for ways to improve the program for the future. School Board and administrative representatives from all 3 schools met and decided that one way to improve is to rebrand the co-op with a new mascot. This will give the WWSSC co-op its own identity instead of having the same mascot as SCW. This would also be the best time to make a change as it’s the year we order new uniforms. The colors of the co-op will remain the same and students from each school will have an opportunity to help rebrand. Administration will work with their 7-12 student body to come up with the top mascot idea from each school with a deadline of December 16. Then we will have a vote with the top 3 mascot ideas with all schools voting to decide on what mascot best represents our co-op. The timeline is very short and we would like to have everything decided by the Holiday Break.

PBIS at Sanborn Central: At Sanborn Central, our expectations are in alignment with Blackhawk PRIDE. PRIDE stands for Positive, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence. When students show Blackhawk PRIDE expectations, they receive a ticket and are given verbal acknowledgement for why they are receiving a ticket. For example, “Bob thank you for showing excellence in the hallway by picking up garbage that wasn’t yours.” When a student receives a ticket, they put the ticket in a staff jar within their classroom. On every Thursday, tickets are picked up from each classroom and are put into a large bucket for a weekly drawing. Every Thursday at the end of the day, a ticket is randomly drawn and is given to one student from PREK-1, 2nd-5th, Middle School, and High School. Additionally, one staff member is randomly chosen as well. When a student or staff member is chosen as a weekly winner, they receive a drink and candy prize, as well as they select from a list of prizes. They also take a picture together as a group that is put on our Sanborn Central Facebook page. At the end of each quarter all students and staff come together for an assembly and quarterly party to celebrate the success of ALL students and staff for showing Blackhawk PRIDE expectations.

It's American Education Week day two! A necessary shout out goes to the entirety of our staff. It's all hands on deck starting with morning pickup and a safe ride to and from school from our bus drivers, to the janitors working tirelessly in efforts to give our school that extra sparkle. The para's showing a caring hand and hustling from room to room to make sure all students have had a turn with the day's projects, and the cooks making that delectable meal we dream about in our sleep! The teachers a necessary staple to every students day providing that caring learning environment passing down knowledge in the subjects they chose to teach. Our School Board tacking all those tough topics and providing the oil for the "machine" and the backbone of our purpose in teaching. Administration and our business manager crunching numbers and driving the force we call Sanborn Central! Together we accomplish all the BIG things that makes us proud and defines "Blackhawk Pride."
